I love smoothies. Smoothies are a great way to enjoy a sweet treat and receive your daily dose of raw fruits and vegetables. I drink smoothies daily to get the extra vitamins I need for healthy hair, skin and body. Most hair issues are the result of stress, poor diet and nutrient deficiencies. I made this delicious strawberry/blueberry smoothie the other day and I want to break down how the nutrients in my smoothie help to promote healthy hair.
- Strawberries: Strawberries are high in vitamin C and manganese which helps to eliminate free radicals. Vitamin C also helps to protect hair follicle cells.
- Blueberries: Blueberries and strawberries are both high in antioxidants! Antioxidants can help prevent hair loss and aid in a healthy scalp. BONUS: A diet high in antioxidants helps to regulate blood sugar. Wild blueberries also help prevent cancer.
- Almond Milk: Great source of Vitamin D and Omega 3 which is great for your hair. According to www.livestrong.com studies have shown a connection between vitamin D and hair growth.
- Organic Hemp Protein Powder: I love this stuff…it’s packed with protein and omega 3 which is essential for healthy hair! This protein powder is gluten-free and soy free too. You can buy it at Trader Joes.
* Add a little Organic Blue Agave for sweetness*
